This exceptional antique George V sterling silver sugar basket has a plain bell shaped form onto a circular pedestal and collet square base, all in the classic George III style.

The surface of this fine example of antique silverware is embellished with two bands of pierced quatrefoil motifs, flanking four impressive six-pointed star designs.

The body of the basket is further encircled with an impressive bright cut engraved tied leaf festoon suspended between each star ornamentation.

Each segment of pierced decoration is embellished with a band of undulating wrigglework, all above a bright cut engraved scalloped decorated border accented with a simplified leaf design.

The rim of the body is encompassed with an applied rope twist decorated border.

The basket retains the original hallmarked, plain swing handle.

This impressive antique silver sugar basket retains the original removable blue glass liner.

Date: 1913


This antique sugar basket is an execptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body and part hallmarks to the handle are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
