Description


This fine antique George II cast sterling silver taperstick has a plain classical English form.


The cylindrical capital of this Georgian taperstick is encircled with bands of tooled decoration.


The capital retains the original sterling silver sconce ornamented with a segmented design accented with shell motifs.


The waisted section of the knopped column features a quatrefoilshaped knop ornamented with a shell design to each corner.


The plain sunken well is embellished with a contemporary engraved coat of arms depicting between a chevron, two roundels and a crescent


This Georgian taper candlestick is supported by an incurved shaped base embellished with a shell motif to each convexity.


This taperstick does not have a weighted base.

Condition


This antique Gerogian taperstick is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the candlestick are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Georgian silverware.
