Description


This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver tea caddy has a plain oval shaped form.


Either side of the body of this antique silver tea caddy is embellished with a bright cut engraved shield shaped vacant cartouche surmounted with an urn design, accented with suspended bud festoons and pendant drop motifs.


The upper portion of the tea caddy is plain and embellished with convex and stepped ornamentation, accented with bands of wrigglework decoration.


This antique sterling silver tea caddy retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover, surmounted with the original painted carved wood and silver topped finial.


The underside of the caddy bears the registration number 'Rd No 444527'.


This highly desirable tea caddy was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmiths Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd.

This antique Edwardian sterling silver tea caddy is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the caddy and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Edwardian silverware.
