Description

This exceptional antique William IV sterling silver teapot has a melon shaped form.

The unusual incurved panelled body of this antique silver teapot is embellished with the engraved initials 'WBS to SS'.

This antique 1800's sterling silver teapot is fitted with the original cast and chased, domed hinged hallmarked foliate decorated cover; such naturalistic covers in this form are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

The unusual cover is surmounted with an impressive cast sterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of a stemmed leaf design.

This English silver teapot is fitted with an impressive cast hallmarked sterling silver scrolling handle accented with leaf decoration to the lower portion of the handpiece and incorporated into the scrolling thumbpiece.

The exceptional cast silver swan necked spout is embellished with further scrolling decoration in addition to simplified leaf design to the tip of the lip and lower portion of the shaped socket.

The teapot is supported by four impressive cast feet ornamented with a foliate design in junction with the plain body.

Condition

This antique 1800's sterling silver teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The cast and chased decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation has wear in keeping with age and location.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot, in addition to part hallmarks struck to the cover and handle, are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique English silverware.
