This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver teapot has an oval can shaped form.

The surface of this Victorian silver teapot is embellished with exceptional and impressive bright cut engraved bands of scrolling leaf decoration, each flanked with scalloped borders.

Each side of the teapot incorporates an impressive central oval vacant cartouche accented with spiralling leaf brackets with pensile floral sprays in addition to a simplified ribbon bow design to the upper portion.

The upper and lower rims of the Victorian silver teapot are emcompassed with applied bead decorated borders.

This antique teapot is fitted with the original flush hinged hallmarked cover encompassed with further bright cut engraved scrolling leaf and scalloped borders, in addition to a large scrolling leaf design emanating across the hinge; the flush hinge indicates the fine quality of this piece.

The cover retains the original, large and impressive fluted carved ivory and sterling silver finial.

This exceptional teapot is fitted with a faceted angular sterling silver handle ornamented with a continuation of the bright cut engraved scrolling leaf border of that to the body.

This fine example of antique silverware has an impressive oil can style spout embellished with a bright cut engraved scrolling leaf design to the lower portion and encompassed with simplified undulating borders to the lip.

This impressive Victorian silver teapot was crafted by the renowned Birmingham silversmiths Elkington & Co Ltd.

Date: 1864


This antique teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

There is some crazing to the finial as expected, in keeping with age.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example antique teaware.
