Sterling Silver Three Piece Tea Service by John Emes - Antique George III (1805)

This exceptional antique George III sterling silver three piece tea service consists of a cream jug, a tea pot and a sugar bowl.

Each piece of this impressive set has a circular compressed form onto a collet foot.

The body and foot of each piece are embellished with a band of bright cut engraved interlacing decoration accented with quatrefoil shaped floral motifs.

The body of each piece of this silver tea set is encircled with a plain concave depressed band, in addition to applied moulded decoration to the upper rim.

The teapot is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover, surmounted with a circular domed carved wood and silver-topped finial; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the service.

The teapot retains the original carved wood C scroll handle, with a plain scrolling thumbpiece.

The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with angular C scroll handles, embellished with stylised bifurcating leaf terminals.

The cream jug and sugar bowl retain the original gilded interiors.

Date: 1805

This antique three piece tea set is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition.

There are some minor dings to the rim of the teapot and some surface blemishes in keeping with age.

The interior of each piece has been cleaned and is ready for use.

The bright cut decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the tea pot cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Georgian silverware.
