Description


This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver toast rack has a rounded oval form.


The toast rack has six compartments divided by a rounded arched frame, surmounted by a central opposing scroll shaped carrying handle.


The lower portion of the handle features a shield shaped cartouche ornamented with the contemporary engraved initial 'W'.


The hallmarked rounded base is embellished with pierced scrolling leaf decoration accented engraved ornamentation, in addition to the aforementioned engraved initial.


The rack is supported by four impressive cast sterling silver scrolling bracket style feet.

Condition


This antique sterling silver toast rack is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are all very clear; the hallmarks have been deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
