Description


This impressive antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has an oval incurved shaped form.


The cover and base of this Victorian vinaigrette are embellished with a simplified bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration.


The cover of the box incorporates a central scroll bordered vacant cartouche.


The rounded shaped sides of the base are encompassed with bright cut engraved scrolling leaf designs continuing to the rim of the cover.


The body of this impressive example of Victorian silverware is fitted with a ring loop attachment to the side.


The anterior surface of the cover is further ornamented with a plain thumbpiece.


The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged pierced decorated grille.


Date: 1865

Condition


This Victorian vinaigrette is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional condition for its type.

The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp.

Full hallmarks to the interior of the vinaigrette are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine example of Victorian silverware.
