Description

This exceptional Victorian English sterling silver whiskey jug has a bulbous shaped form to a circular spreading foot.

The surface of this exceptional jug is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of an armoured arm grasping in the hand an anchor.

The cylindrical tapering neck is ornamented with an exceptional cast and applied bearded mask design beneath the pouring lip.

This antique silver whiskey jug is fitted with an unusual cast sterling silver handle, featuring a circular handpiece and ornamented with a lobed trefoil design to the lower terminal, accented with three convex circular motifs.

This impressive example of Victorian silverware retains the original gilded interior.

This exceptional silver jug was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths John Hunt & Robert Roskell.

Whiskey jugs of such a small stature are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
