This magnificent antique Edwardian sterling silver champagne cooler has a circular plain rounded bell shaped form to a circular domed spreading foot.
This antique cooler is plain and encircled with an applied stylised bud decorated girdle surmounted by four exceptional and large applied figural ornamentation.
These figures incorporate a combination of thyrsi*, flowing fabric, lion pelts and grape vine ornamentation.
The upper rim of the body and rim of the foot are encircled with further cast and applied bud decorated borders, identical to that of the girdle.
This impressive and large cooler is fitted with two exceptional and important cast sterling silver interlacing snake and leaf decorated handles, accented with a figural head to the nadir of the handpiece in junction with the body.
This impressive silver champagne cooler was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Charles Stuart Harris.
