This exceptional antique Victorian English sterling silver vesta box has a plain rectangular form.

The body of the case is embellished with an impressive enamel panel depicting a GER* first class return ticket depicting the destination statement '2000, Issued subject to Regulations in the Company's Time Tables, St Pancras To Newmarket Via Tottenham, First'; the second portion of the stub states the reverse route.

The posterior surface and sides of the case are plain and unembellished.

This silver and enamel vesta box is fitted with a plain hallmarked hinged cover to one end and has a serrated panel/match striker to the other.

This sterling silver vesta box, crafted by the renowned London silversmith Sampson Mordan II, is a rare and collectable example.

* The Great Eastern Railway (GER) was formed in 1862 and connected many areas of central London to Norwich and various areas of the Eastern England.

This antique silver vesta box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The enamel is in perfect condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the side of the box and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique Victorian silverware.
