An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver and mother of pearl fruit/dessert cutlery set for twelve persons - boxed; an addition to our dining silverware collection

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver and mother of pearl fruit/dessert cutlery set consists of twelve knives and twelve forks.


The blades of the knives have a plain pointed form and the forks each have three tines/prongs.


The anterior surface of each knife blade is embellished with fine and impressive engraved undulating border to one side.


The anterior surface of each fork is ornamented with an engraved border to the base of the tines, identical to that of the knife.


The reverse surface of each piece is plain and unembellished.


Each piece of this silver Harrison Bros & Howson cutlery set is fitted with the original carved mother of pearl handle.


All the knives and forks retain the original hallmarked sterling silver ferrules ornamented with embossed bands of bead ornamentation.


Each piece is fitted to the fine and impressive original hinged mahogany canteen box with a lift up lid and lift out tray.


The interior of the box retains the original velvet and satin lining.


This impressive canteen box is ornamented with brass fittings, including a vacant shaped cartouche and escutcheon, which retains the original key for the working locking mechanism.

This antique Harrison Bros & Howson cutlery set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The silver blades have been professionally polished.

The original satin interior of the box has some wear in keeping with age.

The exterior of the box has been polished by a cabinet maker and is in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece, in addition to the ferrules, are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these fine examples of antique cutlery.
