This exceptional antique George VI sterling silver bowl has a circular rounded form to a domed circular foot.
The body of this silver bowl is embellished with an impressive engraved border incorporating panels of trellis ornamentation and interlacing into impressive quatrefoil shaped motifs.
The upper rim is encompassed with an impressive applied border of simplified quatrefoil medallions, with a protruding shell shaped design to either side.
The rim is further embellished with four impressive applied collared designs, accented with large layered leaf motifs conjoining with the aforementioned trellis decorated border.
This antique 1930s silver bowl is fitted with a pair of exceptional cast sterling silver strapwork style handles, each accented with a lion mask design to the upper terminal.
Each handpiece is enveloped with scrolling leaf decoration, in addition to matte panels to the sides.
The circular domed foot is ornamented with impressive chased leaf decorated fluted ornamentation, all in a swirl design.
This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted to the original circular swept painted wood plinth, with a vacant silver inscription plaque; the plaque may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired.
The plinth bears the inset retailer's mark 'Reid & Sons Ltd, Newcastle on Tyne'.
