The surface of this impressive antique inkwell is plain and unembellished, with moulded segments to the lower portion replicating the details of the bell's bead line.
This large silver inkwell is fitted with an impressive hinged hallmarked sterling silver cover modelled in the form of the bell's shoulders and crown.
The upper plateau of the cover is surmounted with an angular sterling silver handle/bell canons.
The cover opens to reveal a circular sunken well and removable ceramic ink liner.
The interior surface of the cover retains the original gilding.
