This exceptional vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver condiment set consists of a salt shaker, a pepper shaker and two spoons.
The pieces of this silver and enamel salt and pepper set have been realistically modelled in the form of soft boiled eggs in egg cups.
Each condiment shaker is ornamented with an enamel eggshell design with the top portion 'cracked' away to reveal the pierced salt and pepper holes; the upper portion of the pepper retains the original gilding.
The enamel and silver egg covers detach from a bayonet style fitment to a brown enamel decorated egg cup; once the cover is removed it can be determined the pieces were commissioned to be used as functional egg cups.
The spoons have circular rounded bowls to plain waisted stems and terminate with cast finials encircled with scalloped borders and circular motifs, accented with initial 'M' to one and 'N' to the other.
This vintage silver and enamel salt and pepper set is fitted to the original hinged crimson leatherette presentation box, with a velvet and satin lined interior and secures with two hinged catches.
The anterior surface of the box features the aforementioned initials to each lid and the interior bears the retailer's mark 'arenski'.
This exceptional example of vintage silverware was made by the renowned artistic and imaginative silversmith Anthony Elson in 1981.
