These exceptional antique George III English sterling silver candlesticks have a cylindrical knopped, tapering form to a circular spreading base, all in a desirable classic English style.
The bell shaped capitals are encompassed with embossed fluted ornamentation and retain the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconces.
Each sconce is encompassed with an applied bead decorated border the anterior rim and the surface is embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest displaying out of a coronet an ostrich's head between two wings.
The knops to the upper portion of the fluted columns is embellished with further applied bead decoration in addition to fabric swags accented with bow motifs.
The candlesticks have circular swept bases encompassed with further bead decoration and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms above the motto 'Turris Fortis Mihi Deus' - God is my tower of Strength.
Both silver candle holders have the weighted bases as to be expected and retain the original turned mahogony plateau to the underside.
