The pieces of this exceptional vintage George VI sterling silver canteen of cutlery for twelve persons have been crafted in the Hanoverian rat tail pattern.


The surface of each handle is plain and unembellished, apart from a pip to the anterior terminal.


The silver spoons feature impressive rat tail ornamentation to the reverse of the bowl.


The original sterling silver forks have three tines/prongs; a fine and desirable feature of the service.

The components of this London made cutlery service have been crafted by the renowned silversmith and retailers C W Fletcher & Son Ltd in 1943.


The anterior surface of each egg spoon retains the original gilding to the bowls.

This exceptional sterling silver English cutlery set is fitted to an oak wood lift up lid and lift out tray canteen box, with a velvet lined interior.


The impressive and original box bears brass fitments, including a vacant shield shaped cartouche and a plain escutcheon.


The interior of the box bears the retailer's plaque 'Ogdens, Court Jewellers, Harrogate & London'.

This vintage silver flatware set is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The original canteen box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker and is in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
