This exceptional antique George III sterling silver fish slice / server has been crafted in the Stag Hunt pattern*.
The surface of the handle is ornamented with a hunting scene incorporating a stag surrounded by hounds, with a hunter to the rounded handle terminal.
The surface of the plain ferrule is embellished with the contemporary engraved crest of a stag.
The handle of this Paul Storr silver fish slice conjoins with the incurved blade with a shell decorated bolster to the anterior surface and a scrolling ornamentation to the heel.
The shaped blade is embellished with a paralleling tooled border, in addition to impressive shaped pierced designs to the centre; the reverse surface of the blade is plain.
This exceptional antique silver fish slice was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith Paul Storr.
* This Regency pattern is very rare and was first created by Paul Storr for Rundell Bridge & Rundell. Storrs successors continued to make variants of this design through the nineteenth century and is still produced today; to build a complete period service would be virtually impossible.
