This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver basket has an oval, navette shaped form to four feet.
The body of the bon bon basket is embellished with embossed and pierced decorated panels of scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation below a band of bud festoons, all incorporating an oval cartouche to either side.
One cartouche displays the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a demi-lion rampant and the other features the monograph initials 'CGA'.
Each cartouche is ornamented with a ribbon bow design to the upper portion and a suspended bud motif to the lower portion.
This receiver is fitted with the original removable glass dish ornamented with a band of etched decoration paralleling the shaped rim, in addition to a star cut motif to the underside.
This antique silver basket retains the original hallmarked sterling silver handle, embellished with embossed Art Nouveau style figural ornamentation supporting a central scrolling handpiece.
This impressive example of Victorian silverware is supported by four impressive feet; two feet bear ribbed decoration enveloped with scrolling leaf decoration and either end bears a claw style foot accented with a large leaf motif in junction with the body.
