This exceptional and rare antique Charles II silver counter box has a circular form.
The surface of the body is encompassed with impressive embossed leaf and bead decoration.
This antique silver counter box retains the original push fit cover embellished with a six petalled floral design, reflecting the style of a 'slipped' Tudor rose.
The cover opens to reveal five George III maundy pennies and a three-halfpence; these date from 1792-1834.
NOTE: Counter boxes contained a number of disks, commonly stamped or engraved with portraits of English monarchs, that were used as game markers and counting devices. A counter box rarely has hallmarks.
