Description

This antique Victorian sterling silver christening mug has a circular, slightly tapering, rounded form onto a circular spreading foot.

The body of the mug is embellished with bright cut engraved fruiting vine decoration, incorporating a shaped vacant cartouche to the anterior face.

This Victorian mug has a thread decorated rim.

The rim of the foot and the interior edge of the C scroll handle are ornamented with a band of bead decoration.

The C scroll handle incorporates a plain thumbpiece.

Condition

This antique christening mug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The mug has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mug are very clear, however the maker’s mark is rubbed.
