This exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian gold locket has been crafted in 18 ct yellow and rose gold.
The locket has an oval form, the anterior face accented with a paired leaf and flower applied decoration.
The posterior face of the hinged locket is plain and unembellished.
The locket opens to reveal a hinged push fit compartment, in which a small photograph or personal memento may be displayed.
The locket suspends from a chased and pierced decorated, shaped setting, accented with a paired leaf and flower design.
The locket is flanked on either side by a belcher chain drop, from which a larger chased and pierced decorated setting, of the same design as the upper frame, suspends.
Five evenly spaced chased decorated paired leaf and flower 'tassel' drops articulate from the lower border of the design.
The locket suspends from a contemporary 18 ct yellow gold 16" trace chain via a hallmarked ring loop attachment to the upper border of the design.
The pendant is hallmarked to the ring loop attachment with the French mark for 18 ct gold (eagle's head) and to the reverse of the upper setting with the French word 'dépose', meaning 'registered'.
The chain secures with a conventional spring loaded bolt ring fastening and may be replaced with a chain of the same quality, in a style or length to meet your personal requirements.
