This exceptional antique American sterling silver six piece tea and coffee set consists of a spirit kettle, teapot, coffee pot, cream jug, covered sugar bowl and slop basin/bowl.
The pieces of this American silver tea service have a rectangular cut cornered form, modelled in the Queen Anne style.
The panelled surface of each piece is plain and unembellished, with an applied reed decorated border to the upper rim.
The spirit kettle, and teapot retain the original hinged hallmarked covers, each surmounted with a sterling silver urn-shaped finial.
The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with sterling silver angular, panelled handles.
The spirit kettle has an arched sterling silver handle with panelled sockets.
The kettle detaches from the original panelled hallmarked sterling silver stand, with further applied decoration to the lower rim.
The fine and impressive bifurcating waisted supports of the stand are plain and unembellished; these sections accommodate the pegs once the kettle is in situ.
The plain base of the stand features an inset circular well fitted with the original, fine and impressive hallmarked detachable, push fit spirit burner; the design of the burner is a fine feature and indicates the high quality of the service.
The Queen Anne silver spirit kettle, teapot and coffee pot have plain swan necked spouts.
The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with sterling silver handles, replicating those to the teapot and coffee pot.
The sugar bowl retains the original domed, panelled push fit cover, surmounted with a sterling silver urn-shaped finial.
Both the cream jug and covered sugar bowl have a gilt interior.
