A samovar is a traditional Russian, Turkish or Persian urn shaped vessel used for brewing tea. The word ‘samovar’ means to self- heat or self - boil, and samovars possess an inner coal chamber which allows them to heat tea while keeping the flame and heat hidden from the user. Samovars are particularly majestic pieces of antique silverware and due to their origins, are often decorated with floral and foliate ornamentation, making them a particularly grandiose example of antique silverware.
Spirit kettles are kettles which have a stand which they are placed on, and this stand contains the flame or coals to heat the tea inside the kettle. These kettles are closer to the traditional tea pot shape that we are familiar with in the present day.
We are able to offer our customers many fine examples of silver samovars and spirit kettles from our collection.
