Biscuit boxes became essential household items during the nineteenth century, as commercial biscuit production boomed alongside the demand for tea and coffee. The fragile nature of biscuits meant that they had to be stored, and the ingredients of the biscuits attracted insects, so without the protection of correct storage, the biscuits would quickly become inedible.
At AC Silver we are pleased to have a selection of antique and vintage silver biscuit boxes from Edwardian, Victorian and modern contemporary eras to suit all tastes and styles of home décor.
