Mabe Pearl Jewellery

Mabe pearls and blister pearls are different in their formation and appearance. Mabe pearls are cultured by implanting a hemispherical nucleus inside a mollusc's shell, which results in a consistent, dome-shaped pearl. After harvesting, the nucleus is often replaced with resin, and the pearl is backed with mother-of-pearl. This process makes Mabe pearls ideal for jewellery like rings, pendants, and earrings.

Blister pearls, on the other hand, can form naturally or with minimal human intervention, resulting in irregular shapes and sizes. They grow against the shell without a controlled process and require less post-harvest processing. Because of their unique shapes, blister pearls are used in custom jewellery designs or kept as natural specimens. While both types are beautiful, Mabe pearls are preferred for their uniformity and ease of use in traditional jewellery.
