An exceptional, fine and impressive 17th century German silver beaker made in Augsburg; part of our continental silverware collection

This exceptional antique 17th century silver beaker has a tapering cylindrical form.


The surface of this antique cup is embellished with three bands of tooled decoration.


This exceptional example of antique silverware retains the original gilding to the interior.


The base of the cup retains the silversmith's centre punch mark.


The hallmarks struck to the underside of this impressive 17th century beaker include:

Maker's mark: PS (Paul Solanier)

City mark: Augsburg, Germany

Assay scrape: Zickzack line (Tremolierstrich)

Date: Circa 1670

This 17th century beaker is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

This piece has blemishes and surface wear in keeping with age.

The Augsburg hallmarks struck to the underside of the drinking vessel are all very clear.
