This impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 18ct white gold.
The brooch has been realistically modelled in the form of a butterfly.
The pierced decorated forewing is embellished with an impressive feature round faceted cut ruby, flanked to either side with an antique (circa 1900) Old European round cut diamonds, each collet set in a linear arrangement.
The segmented forewing and hindwing are further ornamented with Old European round cut diamonds, paralleling the wing's scalloped outer border, swept internal edge and veins; these diamonds vary in size dependant on location.
The thorax of the butterfly is ornamented with an impressive cabochon cut opal and the abdomen is set with four transitional modern brilliant round cut diamonds.
The butterfly's head is reflected with a collet set round faceted cut sapphire, surmounted with two white gold scrolling antennae.
The 1940s brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin with push fit safety catch.
This fine vintage gemstone and diamond butterfly brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.
This antique brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 ct white gold.
NOTE: The Old European cut diamonds and gemstones displayed in this brooch are antique circa 1900. It was common practice in the 1940's to amalgamate older diamonds and gemstones in such pieces.
