Description


These fine antique German silver sugar boxes have been realistically modelled in form of a pair of pheasants.


The cock and hen pheasant have been embellished with fine embossed and chased decoration reproducing the details of each bird's plumage and facial features.


These large silver pheasants are further ornamented with impressive hinged wings; the hinged components indicates the high quality of these pieces.


The upper portion of the push fit head/cover of each bird allows access to the original pierced decorated push fit removable grille.


Each grille is fitted with a plain loop attachment.


The hallmarks struck to the surface of the neck of each pheasant includes:

National mark: Crescent moon and crown, Germany

Silver quality/purity mark: .800 (800/1000)

Maker's mark: Untraced

These large silver pheasants are a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality for their type and in exceptional presentation condition.

The German hallmarks to the surface of the neck of each bird have wear in keeping with age and location, but remain legible.
