SORRY ITEM SOLD

The pieces of this exceptional vintage straight* sterling silver canteen of cutlery with pistol grip knives for eight persons have been crafted in the three-pronged Hanoverian Rat Tail pattern; this set is a replica of an early example.

The surface of each handle is plain and unembellished, apart from a pip to the anterior terminal.

Each spoon and fork feature an impressive rat tail ornamentation to the reverse.

The original sterling silver forks have three tines/prongs.

This pistol grip knife flatware set consists of 52 pieces:

Basic Service:
8 Table knives
8 Table forks
8 Soup spoons
8 Dessert knives
8 Dessert forks
8 Dessert spoons
Additional Pieces:
4 Table/Serving spoons

The pieces of this silver vintage canteen, including the impressive and original pistol grip knives, have been crafted by the London silversmith A Haviland-Nye in 1979.

The replacement table spoons were crafted by the renowned Sheffield silversmith Emile Viner of Viner's Ltd in 1928.

Such three-tined examples, with the original knives, are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

This vintage canteen of cutlery is supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduce tarnishing.

Such services, with pistol grip handled knives and three tined forks in a traditional antique English style, are desirable and becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

* "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.

Date: 1979

This vintage flatware set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive silver canteen of cutlery with pistol grip knives.
