These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver ice buckets / pails have a subtly tapering cylindrical form.
The surface of each piece is embellished with contemporary engraved monogram initials 'AA', below a coronet*.
The upper portion of each piece is encircled with an impressive cast and applied tied reed decorated border.
Each pail is fitted with a pair of cast sterling silver hand pieces, ornamented with lobed, leaf style designs to the upper plateau.
These Victorian ice buckets are presented with fine and impressive associated antique sterling silver ice tongs; one pair bears the London hallmarks for Henry Holland (of Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater) in 1867.
The second pair was assayed in Exeter in 1854 and crafted by Josiah Williams & Co (James & Josiah Williams) and is embellished with the contemporary engraved initials 'MP' to the bridge.
* This style of coronet pertains to a Peerage Baron / Lord of Parliament (Scotland).
