Description


This exceptional antique Chinese silver tea set/service consists of a teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl.


Each piece of this tea service has a circular rounded form onto a collet style foot.


The surface of each piece is encircled with a fine and impressive embossed and chased decorated undulating, iconic Chinese dragon design; the head of the dragon is further embellished with applied nose-tendrils.


The teapot and sugar bowl are fitted with domed covers ornamented with flat engraved foliate designs encompassing the original silver finials reflecting the style of bamboo stalks; the cover to the teapot is hinged.


The teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with embossed shaped C scroll handles modelled in the form of bamboo stalks.


The teapot has an exceptional embossed bamboo style swan necked spout, accented with inverted incuvred segments.

This antique Chinese silver tea set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The chased and embossed decoration is very sharp and the flat engraved ornamentation is very crisp.

The Chinese hallmarks to the underside of each piece are all very clear.
