This fine antique George III sterling silver pint mug has a plain tapering cylindrical form.


The surface of the mug is plain and unembellished.


The rim and circular spreading foot of this impressive mug are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.


The mug is fitted with an impressive S scroll handle with a plain thumbpiece; the handle is struck with the maker's mark as to be expected.


The handle is embellished to the upper portion with the contemporary engraved initials 'HIP' incorporating a central quatrefoil motif.


This pint mug, crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmiths John Langlands I & John Robertson I, is an excellent example of its type.


Date: 1788

This antique pint mug is an exceptional gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition, in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mug are all very clear.

The maker's mark to the handle, due to its location, is clear in keeping with age.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware.
