These exceptional antique George V sterling silver candlesticks have a plain octagonal form onto a spreading octagonal base.
The octagonal shaped capitals retain the detachable push fit sconces, with applied moulded borders to the rims.
The capitals are supported by plain panelled baluster shaped columns featuring a panelled knop to the lower portion.
The octagonal swept base of each candlestick has a plain collet style rim.
These 20th century silver candlesticks were crafted by the London silversmiths Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd and the sconces were made by the renowned silversmiths Asprey & Co Ltd, all in 1910; it was not uncustomary for candlestick components during this term to be made by different makers.
Such examples of this period without a weighted base are uncommon and indicate the high quality of the pair.
