An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver cigarette box; an addition to the ornamental silverware collection

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver cigarette box has a plain rectangular form onto four bracket style feet.


The body of this impressive cigarette box is plain and unembellished.


The box is fitted with two hallmarked hinged covers each embellished with an engine turned panel in addition to a paralleling, broad engine turned decorated border.


The central plateau is surmounted with an impressive plain shaped handle.


The body of this exceptional box is fitted with a cedar wood lining and the surface interior of each solid silver cover retains the original gilded interior.


The silver box is supported by four impressive bracket style feet.


This antique cigarette box has a weighted base and retains the original leatherette covering to the underside.


By virtue of its size this versatile antique cigarette box could be used for a multitude of functions.


NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the cover; it is a sign of quality when boxes have an unlined, solid silver covers.

This antique sterling silver cigarette box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition, in keeping with age.

The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

There are some minor surface dings to the side panels of the body.

The engine turned decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the box and part hallmarks to the interior of each cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
