18th Century Silver Salvers
Sterling Silver Salvers - Antique George II (1753)

Description

These exceptional antique George II sterling silver salvers have a circular shaped form.

The surface of each salver retains the original bright cut engraved stylised floral, leaf and scroll bordered coat of arms displaying a cross engrailed accented with a central cross pattee.

The raised borders are encircled with exceptional pierced and chased fruiting vine ornamentation accented with alternating leaf and impressive mask designs.

The 18th Century silver salvers are each supported by four fine and impressive cast Regency style leaf decorated feet.

The underside of each salver bears the original scratch weights of 15.8 and 16.6 troy ounces; as to be expected the measured weight has subtly diminished in keeping with age to 14.9 and 15.9 troy ounces.

Condition

These antique salvers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp and the chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each salver are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique Georgian silverware.
