An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Russian silver egg cups; an addition to our silver cruet and condiment collection

These exceptional antique Russian silver egg cups have a circular rounded form to a swept pedestal foot.


The body of each egg cup is embellished with exceptional embossed scrolling leaf and floral decoration accented with a shaped leaf textured background.


The pedestal foot of each piece is embellished with further scrolling leaf designs, incorporating a matte background.


This antique Russian egg cups screw fit together to conjoin and form an ovoid shape.


One egg cup retains the original gilding to the interior underside of the pedestal foot.


The hallmarks to these antique Russian egg cups include:

Kokoshnik mark: C* (Aleksandr Nikolaievitch Snarsky/Александр Николаевич Снарский)

Silver quality/purity mark: 900, 84 (84 zolotniks**)


* This variation of the Kokoshnik import mark was used from 1899-1908, determining the date of this piece as circa 1905.


** The country of origin hallmarked each piece with the standard mark 900 and once imported into Russia the silver purity was tested and hallmarks struck reaffirming the silver is a minimum of 84 zolotniki; this is equivalent to 875/1000 or .875 standard silver.

These Russian silver egg cups are an excellent gauge for their type of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The embossed decoration is very sharp.

The hallmarks struck to the surface to the foot of one egg cup and body of the other are very clear.
