This impressive antique Georgian sterling silver toy* tazza has a plain circular form onto a cylindrical pedestal foot.


The surface of the tazza is plain and unembellished apart from the silversmiths centre punch mark, in addition to the maker's mark 'DC'** and lion passant.


The rim of this antique tazza is encompassed with an embossed border.


* The word toy encompasses a variety of pieces reflecting the same proportions and design features as the original examples. Originally such pieces were either collected by adults, or played with by children as genuine toys.


**David Clayton was a London silversmith renowned for producing miniatures and toys. Examples of his work may be seen in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

This antique tazza is a very good gauge of silver for its type, excellent quality and in excellent condition in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks to the surface of the tazza are clear, in keeping with age; the lion passant mark is worn but remains legible.
