These exceptional antique sterling silver presentation cups have a bell shaped form onto a plain pedestal and circular domed foot.
The surface of each cup is embellished with impressive chased floral, scroll and leaf decoration incorporating a large scroll bordered shaped vacant cartouche to one side and an impressive horse racing scene to the other.
Each cup is further ornamented with an applied girdle to the centre of the body and features a chased decorated phoenix design to the lower portion of the posterior side.
The feet of these impressive presentation cups are encircled with chased leaf decorated borders.
One cup was crafted by the Victorian London silversmith Robert Harper in 1856 and the other was made by the Georgian silversmith Matthew West in Dublin, circa 1780; these presentation cups bear the same chased ornamentation and sit well together as a matching pair.
