A magnificent, fine and impressive, large antique George V English sterling silver presentation cup and cover made in a Paul de Lamerie design; an addition to our presentation silverware collection

This magnificent antique George V sterling silver cup and cover has a circular bell shaped form to a pedestal and domed foot.

The large body of the cup is encircled with a plain applied girdle above exceptional chased swag ornamentation accented with a bear's head below a single scrolling leaf design and three pelt style limbs to either side; this formation reflects the design and style of the renowned silversmith Paul de Lamerie.

The ornamentation to the body includes shaped panels of matte and diaper pattern textures, in addition to two bordered shaped vacant cartouches.

This versatile antique champagne/presentation cup retains the original hallmarked domed push fit cover embellished with shaped chased panels of scale textures accented with leaf decorated swags and scrolling motifs.

The ornamentation to the cover incorporates figural masks with grape cluster headdresses and leaf decorated background.

The upper portion of the cover is surmounted with a waisted panel of concave fluted ornamentation in a swirl design, with a circular knop to the upper portion encircled with floral medallions.

The cover terminates with an exceptional cast sterling silver finial, embellished with grape and leaf decoration above four segmented bead designs.

This silver cup and cover has two magnificent cast sterling silver scrolling handles, each ornamented with a further scrolling leaf designs to the upper and lower sockets and surmounted with exceptional female figureheads.

The impressive cast foot is embellished with scrolling leaf and floral motifs below a band of floral medallions and waisted fluted pedestal, reflecting the same style to that of the cover.

The underside of the foot bears the retailer's mark 'Manoah Rhodes & Sons Ltd, Bradford'.

This magnificent example of George V silverware is fitted to the original, large and impressive circular mahogany wood plinth, encircled with a bespoke vacant silver inscription band; the band may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired.

This exceptional cup is a superior gauge of silver for the period.

This antique silver cup and cover is a superior gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The applied, cast and chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the cup and sleeve of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of George V silverware.
