An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver teapot; an addition to our silver teaware collection

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver teapot has an octagonal rounded form to an octagonal panelled swept foot.


The panelled body of the teapot is embellished with an impressive flat engraved scrolling leaf bordered cartouche to each panel; four panels incorporate impressive bright cut engraved floral spray designs.


The cartouche to the anterior surface bears the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'MRB' and the posterior cartouche remains vacant.


The upper and lower portions of each panel are embellished with further flat engraved scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating a foliate motif to each edge.


The swept upper portion of the teapot features flared shoulders ornamented with an applied scroll and leaf decorated border.


This antique silver teapot is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover ornamented with further bright cut engraved decoration and surmounted with the original and impressive embossed silver finial.


The teapot is fitted with a fine and impressive C scroll handle with an impressive leaf decorated upper socket.


The exceptional cast sterling silver swan necked spout is embellished with impressive trellis patterns and incorporates a strapwork style collar to the upper portion.


Date: 1850

This 19th century silver teapot is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The cast decoration is very sharp and the flat engraved ornamentation is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of the cover and the surface of the handle are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
