An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage George VI English sterling silver and enamel powder compact with mirror; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection

This exceptional George VI sterling silver and enamel vintage powder compact with mirror has a square form with cut corners.


The anterior surface of the compact is embellished with an exceptional enamel panel depicting two birds perched on a hanging branch, with a pale blue to pink sunburst guilloche enamel background.


The enamel panel is bordered with a band of simplified bead and spindle decoration.


The reverse of the vintage 'bird' compact is embellished with a panel of impressive engine turned decoration.


The compact is fitted with an incurved thumbpiece to one side of the push fit catch.


This impressive compact opens to reveal the original integrated mirror and powder compartment; this compartment retains the original cosmetic mesh.


The interior rim of the compact is embellished with the contemporary engraved initials 'J.E.S.G'.

Date: 1947

This vintage compact is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The engine turned decoration is very sharp and the enamel panel is in perfect condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the interior surface of the cover and part hallmarks to the base have wear in keeping with age and use.
