This exceptional antique George V sterling silver pocket lighter has a rectangular form with rounded sides.
The surface of the body is ornamented with a fine and impressive hot enamel panel depicting a newspaper article from 'The People', Sunday May 5, 1929.
The reverse surface and sides of the body are plain and unembellished.
The hallmarked upper portion of this rare lighter is fitted with a cylindrical, hinged lever/snuffer.
The underside of this antique lighter bears two hallmarked screw fit stoppers, allowing access to the wick and petrol chambers.
Such examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
