This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and glass combination vesta box and match striker has a globular form.
The surface of the glass body is embellished with a serrated texture which composes a match striker.
The upper portion of this antique match striker retains the original, plain hallmarked sterling silver mount, fitted with a plain subtly domed cover; the cover is a fine feature and indicates the high quality of the piece.
Such antique silver hinged, covered examples are rare to the market.
By virtue of its size and weight, this versatile match striker could be utilised as a paperweight.
