18ct Yellow Gold Sautoir Chain - Antique Circa 1870

This exceptional, fine and impressive antique sautoir chain has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold.

The 50" antique gold necklace consists of box chain links and a yellow gold drop connected via a hand shaped pendant.

The cast hand shaped terminal features an ornamental cuff design and grips an interlacing wirework connector to a swivel link style clasp.

The pendant ornament terminates with further ring loops conjoined to a simplified cast yellow gold sceptre design.

By virtue of its length and moveable baluster knop, this sautoir chain in gold may be worn as a one or two strand necklace.

The chain is hallmarked to the wirework loop and ring loops with the French 18ct gold fineness mark (eagle's head).

NOTE: A sautoir is a French term used to define a long fine necklace accented with a suspended suspends a tassel/ornament and often set with gems.
