However, this does not imply that one must seek alternative options for a wedding band. The conventions surrounding bridal jewellery have undergone significant changes in recent years. Presently, eternity rings are increasingly favoured by individuals desiring a wedding band that possesses a unique and meaningful quality.

The exact origins of wedding rings are somewhat unclear. Dating back to Ancient Egypt, rings have been seen as meaningful personal accessories. This civilization is often credited with being the first to exchange rings as symbols of love, even though these rings didn't necessarily indicate a legal marriage. Referred to as "rings of love," these Egyptian artifacts were typically crafted from materials like leather or woven leaves and were given as tokens of affection. The Egyptians imbued rings with deep symbolism, with their circular shape representing completeness and eternity, thus reflecting the idea of everlasting love. Additionally, signet rings and scarab rings held significance in Egyptian culture, although these types weren't specifically associated with romantic intentions.

The Ancient Greeks also valued rings highly, using them in romantic gestures. They often gifted rings embellished with romantic motifs to their partners, featuring images of Eros, the god of love, or cherubic figures, as well as Hercules knot rings and those engraved with loving messages. Like the Egyptians, there is little evidence connecting these rings to formal wedding ceremonies; however, they certainly represented love.

The ease and cost of resizing your wedding ring will depend on the style of the piece. If you’ve chosen a plain band, the resizing process should be simple and inexpensive. However, if you have a wedding ring that incorporates decoration all around the circumference (such as an eternity ring) it will be difficult or impossible to resize. If you’re looking for an intricate wedding ring that features a lot of diamonds, gemstones, or elaborate decoration, make sure you try it on and double-check the size before purchasing the piece.
