This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver bon bon/fruit dish has an oval boat shaped form onto an oval pedestal foot.
The flared body of this sterling silver dish is embellished with pierced vertical pales accented with circular motifs.
The body is further embellished with fine and impressive applied festoons decoration suspended from oval floral motifs and incorporating tied leaf festoon bordered cartouches.
Each cartouche bears the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of two hammers in saltire, thereon a cock regardant, all above the motto 'En martelant' - Through hammering*.
The upper rim of the dish is embellished with cast and applied floral rosette, festoon and scrolling leaf decorated borders, incorporating an impressive raised handpiece to either end.
The well of this fine example of antique silverware is plain and unembellished.
The oval domed pedestal foot is encompassed with further pierced ornamentation with festoons designs.
