An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George VI English sterling silver playing card box; an addition to the 1930s antique silverware collection

This exceptional antique George VI sterling silver playing card box has a rectangular form onto a swept base.


The surface of this silver box is embellished with four panels, each retaining an antique period playing card displayed behind the original bevelled glass panel.


The silver border to each side is plain and unembellished.


This novelty box retains the original hinged cover with a rounded thumbpiece to the anterior side; the interior of the cover bears the original gilding.


The cover of this antique silver box opens to reveal the original cedar wood lining, allowing for three packs of full-size multi-suit playing cards to be stored; the box is supplied with two packs of period playing cards.
