This exceptional, fine and impressive antique chain has been crafted in 14ct yellow gold.
The antique necklace/watch chain is comprised of box chain style links, accented with a lobed slider.
The slider is embellished with a feature collet set cabochon cut garnet, above two claw set round faceted cut garnets, all in a vertical linear formation.
The looped chain terminates with a swivel link style clasp.
By virtue of its length and moveable lobed knop, this slider chain may be worn as a one or two strand gold garnet necklace or alternatively wrapped around the wrist to be worn as a chain bracelet.
The clasp is hallmarked with the 14ct gold fineness mark (14K) and the slider bears the 14ct gold mark and maker's mark.
This antique garnet gold chain necklace is a richly romantic piece, making it a thoughtful gift for weddings, anniversaries or birthdays. With garnet as the January birthstone, it carries added significance for those born in that month.
NOTE: In the 19th century, slide chains became the most popular way for women to wear pocket watches around the neck and often seen tucked neatly into the pocket of a riding vest. The adjustable slide offered versatility, allowing the chain to be worn long, shortened with the slider drawn to one side, or balanced at the center for a symmetrical look.
