This fine antique Victorian four piece Victorian silver tea set consists of a coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug.
The pieces of this tea and coffee service have an oval tapering, oil can shaped form.
The surface of each piece is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved bordering interlacing scroll designs accented with a floral motif to each intersection and flanked with simplified leaf ornamentations.
The upper and lower rims of each item are encircled with an applied moulded border accented with finely ribbed decoration.
The shoulders of the coffee pot, teapot and sugar bowl are ornamented with a bright cut engraved band of undulating decoration above a scalloped border accented with trefoil motifs to the incurves.
The coffee pot and teapot are fitted with hinged hallmarked covers, which feature concave fluted decoration to the domed portions and are surmounted with the original oval finials.
Each piece is fitted with a fine and impressive ribbed C shaped handle incorporating a chased leaf decorated thumbpiece and waisted batwing style sockets.
The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with fine and impressive tapering spouts ornamented to the lower portion with further fluted decoration.
The underside of the cream jug spout is embellished with chased decoration in addition to applied moulded scrolling designs to either side of the lip.
The cream jug and sugar bowl retain the original gilded interiors.
